Holyoke Medical Center, an acute care community hospital in Western Massachusetts, offers a dynamic approach to health care in a modern, progressive environment.# Our Speech # Audiology Department has long enjoyed an exceptional reputation for patient-centered, quality care.# Our Speech # Audiology team is seeking an individual who is seeking a career balancing technology and patient care to join our audiologists in providing excellent hearing healthcare. The Audiology Assistant works#directly under a doctor of audiology performing duties their direct supervisor has trained them to do competently.# These tasks may include: Assisting with history intake and cognitive screening protocols Ordering and receiving new hearing aids and preparing them for appointment;# sending of hearing technology devices to manufacturer for repairs Troubleshooting hearing technology devices, recommending repairs, and drafting requests for authorization as needed Instructing patients and families in the use of prescriptive hearing technology equipment Scheduling appointments and meetings Maintaining organization of clinical equipment, files, records, supplies Requirements: provide evidence of one of the following types of appropriate educational preparation; 1. Possess an associate#s degree in communication disorders from a training program approved by a national certifying body; or 2. Possess a bachelor#s degree with a major in communication disorders; or 3. Possess a bachelor#s degree and a certificate from a Board approved Speech-language Pathology or Audiology assistant program; or 4. Possess an associate degree, bachelor degree, or advanced degree, and demonstrate having successfully completed 18 semester credit hours of coursework in Speech language Pathology and/or Audiology, six of which must be in disorders of speech, language, or hearing; or other coursework as the Board may approve; Eligible to become licensed as an Audiology Assistant (State of MA).# Hearing Instrument Licenses also considered.##
