Intelsat's Rotational Associate Program is a highly competitive two-year program that provides recent graduates the opportunity to develop their technical skills in the communications industry at the forefront of satellite innovation. As a Rotational Associate, you will work for 8 months at a time, over a two-year period, in three different teams and experience the day-to-day responsibilities of the different career paths and work with different teams as they collaborate to achieve their goals. This is a hybrid role, and you will be working in the office 3 days a week.

We are committed to providing you with a wide range of industry exposure and the opportunity to be selected for a full-time position upon successful completion of the program. We provide comprehensive Orientation and training and coaching throughout the program as well as roundtable discussions with key members of the organization and guest speaker events to enhance business perspective. At the end of each 8 month rotation you will have the opportunity to present what you have learned and accomplished.

 

Data Scientist / AI Rotational Associate 

 

In this track, you will utilize your education and skills and have the opportunity to make a lasting impact working with Modeling & Advanced Analytics, Platform Solutions & Analytics, and Enterprise Data Management teams. You will work closely with their team and collaborate with stakeholders across various business functions.  As a Data Scientist /AI Rotational Associate, you will:

 

  • Engage in a variety of AI/ML based projects from requirements to POC designs and pilot development.
  • Utilize various ML techniques and algorithms tailored to specific business use cases.
  • Partner with Data Scientists to train, test, and refine machine learning models on use cases to deploy into production.
  • Develop analysis and productionalize dashboards and reports using model outputs to answer key business questions.
  • Document AI model development processes and methodologies.
  • Gain knowledge in the space and satellite industry while increasing exposure working with other business functions to ensure a full understanding of the company structure and strategy.
  • Present project findings and recommended course of action to leadership.

 

Months 1-8 as an Associate, Modeling & Advanced Analytics 

  • Design, develop and deploy AI solutions to optimize Intelsat's network and improve the end-user's quality of experience.
  • Gain a better understanding on AI/ML solution implementation and performance monitoring.
  • Conduct research on AI trends, technologies, and best practices.  Prototype 1 new technology. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for AI implementation and optimization.
  • Learn from senior-level Data Scientists currently on the team – business strategy, business processes, AI/ML approaches/techniques, explainable AI, influencing others.

 

Months 8-16 as an Associate, Enterprise Data Management & Analytics 

 

  • Conduct exploratory data analysis for answering business question.
  • Put together data sets from multiple domains and build dashboards.
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis.
  • Identify data quality issues.
  • Automate/Generate monthly/weekly reports.
  • Enhance existing automated reports.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to gather requirements and educate them on analyses and findings. 

 

 

Months 16-24 as an Associate, Platform Solutions & Analytics 

 

  • Support the implementation, training & maintenance of LLM based AI “chat box” used for automating answering ad-hoc network data requests to support operational efficiency & data accuracy.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for AI implementation and optimization on following initiatives:
    • Optimal resource allocation
    • Demand forecasting & predictive analytics
  • Communicate key insights derived from data analysis & model outputs to commercial / non-technical stakeholders to support business strategy
  • Conduct research on AI trends, technologies, and best practices. Co-serve as AI/ML SME within team to educate overall group on solutions achievable via AI/ML

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in programming, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data visualization tools
  • Experience with relational databases, data lakes and warehouses; cloud-based a plus
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and maturity in the workplace
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft 365 platform
  • 4-year degree (Master's degree preferred) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics or equivalent quantitative discipline with emphasis on AI/ML.

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Familiarity with supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning and related ML techniques (regression, classification, clustering) to support model solution development – prediction, optimization, recommendation.  Basic knowledge of other ML sub-domains and Gen-AI i.e., deep learning (ANN), NLP, LLMs, a plus.
  • Familiarity with ML frameworks and libraries (Scikit-learn, PyTorch, Keras, NumPy, Tensorflow, Pandas) and range of functions and algorithms they provide to train/test models. 
  • Experience in programming, analytical, and visualization tools to extract, transform, summarize, and visualize data that aligns with the objectives of an AI or data science project:
    • Python (intermediate)
    • SQL (intermediate)
    • MS Excel (intermediate)
    • Tableau (familiar)
    • Jupyter (familiar)
  • Experience utilizing relational databases and data lakes working with a variety of data structures, formats, and types.  Use of cloud-based platforms i.e., AWS, Azure, GCP, a plus.
