Intelsat's Rotational Associate Program is a highly competitive two-year program that provides recent graduates the opportunity to develop their technical skills in the communications industry at the forefront of satellite innovation. As a Rotational Associate, you will work for 8 months at a time, over a two-year period, in three different teams and experience the day-to-day responsibilities of the different career paths and work with different teams as they collaborate to achieve their goals.

We are committed to providing you with a wide range of industry exposure and the opportunity to be selected for a full-time position upon successful completion of the program. We provide comprehensive Orientation and training and coaching throughout the program as well as roundtable discussions with key members of the organization and guest speaker events to enhance business perspective. At the end of each 8 month rotation you will have the opportunity to present what you have learned and accomplished.

Engineering Rotational Associate – Process Optimization 

In this track, you will utilize your education and skills and have the opportunity to make a lasting impact working with the Sales Engineering, Payload Operations, and Network Operations teams. Upon successful completion of the 24-month program, you will be promoted and placed accordingly into a role that will align with and build upon your experience. 

Months 1-8 as an Associate, Solutions Development 

As a part of the Solutions Development department, you will get insights into the entire customer journey from the initial service request and requirements gathering through to the service activation. As Solutions Development sits across this entire process and engages with other departments you will get to see this process flow and work on optimizing the way the different teams work and engage with each other. You will get to learn about the different Intelsat products and services that we offer our customers, the different teams and functions that we work with, and tools that we use to facilitate our processes. We are looking for somebody that can analyze these tools and processes to provide insights into what we as a department can be doing more efficiently and then help to develop a mechanism to improve our workflow processes.  

  • Work with the Sales Engineering team to understand how we gather requirements from customers and process to take these requirements to service implementation
  • Review the workflow between the Sales Engineering team and other groups within and outside of Solutions Development to identify any inefficiencies in the process
  • Learn tools such as APS, Strip7, RFM, Salesforce, etc. that are used in the workflow process
  • Develop a mechanism for improving workflow processes within the Solutions Development organization

Months 8-16 as an Associate, Satellite Payload Operations 

As part of the Payload Operations team, you will learn how CONOPs (concept of operations) shapes our process execution. Armed with this knowledge, you'll oversee the Payload Reconfiguration workflow, striving to optimize configuration integrity to meet customer needs. Your role involves collaborating across departments to brainstorm ideas and aid in automating the Payload Reconfiguration workflow, culminating in presenting your findings. A successful rotation will establish the groundwork for saving hundreds of man-hours annually dedicated to the Payload Reconfiguration process.

  • Work with the Payload Engineering team to understand the CONOPs surrounding the responsibilities as a payload operations engineer.
  • Be trained by the team on how to create custom commanding scripts which are then issued to the satellite to make the requested changes.
  • Oversee and be part of the Payload Reconfiguration process to identify areas of improvement internally as a Payload Engineering team.
  • Collaborate with departments involved in the Payload Reconfiguration process to discuss and define a streamlined vision.

Months 16-24 as an Associate, Operations and Satellite 

As part of the Network Operations team, you will have a role in Intelsat's service issue resolution environment providing direct interaction with customers and adjacent internal support teams.  The Network Operations team is structured around our technical verticals: Fulltime Media Broadcast and Occasional Use Satellite News Gathering support; Data team support of Managed Network services and Transport Technology; Platforms team support of iDirect, Gilat and Comtech platform mobility networks and RF team support of Space Segment services emphasizing investigation and resolution of satellite interference.  You will learn the foundation skills needed to support all Intelsat offered services. You will receive exposure to the impactful events our customers experience and the solutions we achieve for them. You will have an opportunity to support service substantiation. Your role will be to assist our internal NOC escalation engineering teams with service issue escalations, documentation of training material, contribution towards process flow projects and auditing a core database for service data integrity. 

  • Work with key tools to gain experience with proactive alarming and methods of service visibility
  • Work with NOC leaders and engineers to learn the nuances of different service types and the common types of impactful events they experience as well as our critical response process 
  • Pair with peer NOC engineering trainers to establish a foundation skillset enabling you to assist with service impactful situations 
  • Contribute towards completion of NOC Engineering led training documentation, process workflow improvements and database data integrity assessments. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Aerospace Engineering
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and maturity in the workplace
  • Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office Suite
