Intelsat's Rotational Associate Program is a highly competitive two-year program that provides recent graduates the opportunity to develop their technical skills in the communications industry at the forefront of satellite innovation. As a Rotational Associate, you will work for 8 months at a time, over a two-year period, in three different teams and experience the day-to-day responsibilities of the different career paths and work with different teams as they collaborate to achieve their goals. This is a hybrid role, and you will be working in the office 3 days a week.

We are committed to providing you with a wide range of industry exposure and the opportunity to be selected for a full-time position upon successful completion of the program. We provide comprehensive Orientation and training and coaching throughout the program as well as roundtable discussions with key members of the organization and guest speaker events to enhance business perspective. At the end of each 8 month rotation you will have the opportunity to present what you have learned and accomplished.

 

Finance Rotational Associate 

In this track, you will utilize your education and skills and have the opportunity to make a lasting impact working with the Accounting, FP&A and Pricing/Yield Management teams. Upon successful completion of the 24-month program, you will be promoted and placed accordingly into a role that will align with and build upon your experience. As a Finance Rotational Associate you will:

 

  • Participate in all aspects of Payroll, Benefit and Cost of Sales Accounting. The assigned functions may rotate over time providing the individual both exposure and opportunity to contribute to these areas in general accounting. 
  • Gain expertise in financial analysis and forecasting, hone skills in planning, variance analysis, and management reporting. Develop a deep understanding of strategic financial decision-making processes and contribute to cost optimization initiatives. Under the mentorship of experienced finance professionals, you will enhance your proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and presentation skills, to prepare you for a successful career in finance and accounting.
  • Collaborate across all business units, including Networks, Mobility, Media and Government, as well as other stakeholders in the Asset Management, Finance and Strategy organizations. You will support Sales and Product staff globally by providing insight and analysis on pricing strategy and metrics, and with assistance on proposal development and pricing support for non-standard deals. 

 

Months 1-8 as an Associate, Accounting 

  • Assist with Payroll, Benefit and Cost of Sales Accounting, adhering to a strict monthly accounting close schedule
  • Prepare and review journal entries with referenced supporting documentation in accordance with best practices
  • Conduct complex account analysis and research to interpret and ensure accuracy and understanding of account balances and activity
  • Support the evaluation and recording of complex payroll and cost of sales transactions in accordance with US GAAP
  • Prepare various reconciliations, schedules, and reports. Use accounting knowledge to provide correcting entries to management for any reconciling items and works to minimize such discrepancies on a go-forward basis
  • Interact with all levels of staff to obtain information, ensuring that any related accounting impacts are properly recorded and disclosed
  • Assist with close acceleration project, and other as assigned

 

Months 8-16 as an Associate, FP&A 

  • Analyze variances to past and expected performance and identifies/explains overarching trends in the business to drive management decisions
  • Provide support for quarterly internal and external reporting
  • Interact with leadership on a regular basis to deliver financial updates and develop budgets and forecasts
  • Periodically update financial forecasts based on new information or changes to the business
  • Ad hoc financial reporting and analysis 

 

Months 16-24 as an Associate, Pricing/Yield Management 

  • Work on pricing strategies and developing/updating rate cards 
  • Assist with KPI analytics on pricing and yield information, and win/loss trends
  • Review and approve pricing discounts and non-standard deals based on established guidance
  • Deal analysis support including financial modeling and business cases
  • Support Finance in AOP budget development and assist with revenue performance tracking throughout the year

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • 4-year degree in Accounting or Finance 
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office Suite, notably: Excel skills  
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and maturity in the workplace
  • Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Collaborate, wiliness to learn, curiosity

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's degree
  • Cloud, ERP system experience
