Job Description
Financial Engineers, Mathematicians and Actuaries who apply mathematical and statistical techniques to study, measure, and evaluate financial instruments, financial markets and the behaviour of market participants. Their work typically revolves around the design, development, construction of mathmatical models and analytical approaches designed to provide insight into complex financial systems. Some engineers work in Services, Product Management and other roles where they may perform functions that require a deep understanding of financial models. Career level professional leading small, moderately complex projects or working on complex tasks that require a high degree of judgement, resourcefulness, and self-initiative. Demonstrates specialized expertise to evaluate wide-ranging and complex issues and develop creative solutions. Recommends new procedures. The SS&C Algorithmics Global Support team provides support to clients across the various regions using SS&C Algorithmics products in production. These clients have already been through the implementation cycle and understand our software, risk management processes and IT in general.
The group also provides direct support to third-party integrators who may be implementing SS&C Algorithmics products at client sites or at their own offices.
The team comprises integration engineers, Financial Professional (Financial engineers), and post-implementation consultants, providing a balance of technical IT and financial modelling expertise. Support is provided via telephone and e-mail in the first instance, and by on-site visits if necessary.
The key responsibility of Financial Professional (Financial Engineer) in SS&C Algorithmics Support is to provide functional and financial modelling expertise to clients after the initial implementation project has been complete. The work has a strong focus on financial, data and modelling aspects.
Key Responsibilities
To provide functional and financial modeling expertise to Algorithmics clients
To assist clients in financial validation of models as implemented.
Conducts hands-on/trainings and provides 2nd level support for the global services support, pre-sales and other teams within the firm, as and when required
Keep abreast with developments within Algorithmics and in the market place, both in business and technological terms
Key Requirement:
Bachelor's or Master degree in Mathematical Finance, Financial Engineering, or relevant field
Written communication in English and fluent spoken/written Mandarin
Willing to travel extensively within China
Familiarity and comfort with a technical environment involving Unix, shell and Perl Scripting, Java and C++ language development and Oracle database infrastructure.
Self reliant, self starter, self motivated, keen to learn
Ability to work productively in a team environment
Desirable Requirements:
Working experience in financial industry, especially in risk management area.
FRM or other risk professional certificate an asset
Presentation and communication skills
Programming skills for supporting data modelling (Shell Scripting, Visual Basic, Python) is advantageous
Knowledge of credit risk models such as Merton
Knowledge of Economic Capital methodologies
