Kamehameha Schools Kapalama Campus is seeking Facilities Assistants to support their Athletics Department. These are Temporary, Part-Time positions for the school year 2023-2024 with weekday shifts from 3:30 - 7:30pm and possible weekend morning shifts from 7:00am - 2:00pm.

Job Summary

This position provides necessary support to departments that require the use of facilities (e.g. – recreational, chapel, etc.), as well as many external audiences.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Monitors facilities to ensure users receive facility usage privileges and comply with appropriate rules and regulations.
  • Assist Supervisor in assigned special events, i.e. athletic matches, concerts, luaus, dances, chapel services, etc., including set-up and break-down of facility assets such as bleachers, chairs, stages, plants, A.V. equipment, etc.
  • Assists with organization of activities for students.
  • Maintains and checks out equipment for students and staff. Repairs as needed.
  • Opens and secures all areas of the facility as needed for classes, meetings, practices, tours, etc.
  • Meets with users prior to special events to determine facilities usage requirements.
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one (1) year applicable experience.
  • Able to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Resolve conflict situations involving compliance to rules and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and tactfully with a variety of publics to include students, staff, facility users, etc.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and as needed for special events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in organizing/setting up special events functions, such as athletic/recreational events, chapel/church events, etc.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
  • Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.

Working Conditions

  • This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
  • Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
  • Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
