Job Summary

Reviews financial aid & scholarship applications and supporting documents to determine and/or validate key financial aid measures, such as Estimated Family Contribution (EFC), Cost of Attendance (COA), financial need, etc for all FASS need based programs. Work with applicants to obtain pertinent and timely additional information to help accurately determine need or eligibility. Participate in the update, review and development of various needs determination methodologies. Provide guidance and assistance to financial aid applicants in one-on-one or group settings through meetings, workshops or other venues. Assist in development of materials to aid in the delivery of financial aid applications. Update various financial aid systems used (e.g., Powerfaids, CMDS, JDE, Access, etc.) in day to day operations. Understand and support Kamehameha Schools' educational and financial aid programs by providing requested data in a timely manner. Participate in the master scheduling process with educational, financial aid and scholarship programs and develop appropriate timelines and deadlines for FASS processing.

Essential Responsibilities

Analysis

  • Review all financial aid applications and attachments, determine and/or validate key financial aid measures, such as Estimated Family Contribution (EFC), Cost of Attendance (COA), financial need, etc. for respective program(s).
  • Communicate and follow up with applicants for additional information.
  • Program analyses and processing include: appeals process & other supporting processes for respective program(s).
  • Participate in the review and development of various needs determination methodologies & processes.

Applicant Services

  • Provide guidance and assistance to financial aid applicants in one-on-one or group settings through meetings, workshops or other venues.
  • Assist in development of materials to aid in the delivery of financial aid applications.
  • Provide workshops at community sites as assigned.

Systems

  • Update various financial aid systems used (e.g., Powerfaids, CMDS, JDE, Access, etc.) in day to day operations.

Programs

  • Understand and support Kamehameha Schools' educational and financial aid programs by providing requested data in a timely manner.
  • Participate in master scheduling process with educational, financial aid and scholarship programs and develop appropriate timelines and deadlines for FASS processing.
  • Participate in process documentation for all programs.

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Tax, Business, or Related Field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize and handle complex, multiple, simultaneous projects and meet established timelines and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to analyze and conceptualize, and to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and with highly confidential information.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to work effectively with management and staff at various levels in the organization as part of a fiscal team.
  • Ability to be flexible, learn new systems and processes as required.
  • Ability to use standard PC & Client/Server applications and possess strong working knowledge of computerized accounting systems and microcomputers.
  • Strong working knowledge of and experience in automating office processes using standard office desktop applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accounting or tax experience.
  • Knowledge of computer systems, capabilities, and processes.
  • Familiarity with KS operations.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
  • Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.

Working Conditions

  • Work is conducted in an office environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
  • Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.

68,800.00 - 94,300.00 Annual
