Job Summary

Responsible to manage the student activities program which includes teaching leadership classes, advising faculty and student class representatives and coordinating parent and faculty supervision of activities, all student related activities, and facilities use requests.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Teaches leadership and related responsibilities to student council officers and class representatives through formal and information classes/workshops and practical experiences.
  • Promotes, evaluates and enlists a health spirit and conduct in the entire student body regarding their responsibilities and challenges as Kamehameha Schools students.
  • Develops schedules and supervision plans for all assemblies, rallies, dances, and student-council activities on the school master calendar.  Plans and organizes student council activities, plans and coordinates all school functions and may assist teachers with off/on campus excursions.
  • Develops related student activities budget and maintains all financial transactions.  Approves, monitors and coordinates all secondary school fund raising projects and projected budgets for clubs and classes and collects gross income tax for fundraisers.
  • Prepares year end reports summarizing and evaluating all student activities.  Plans, sets goals, and lists recommendations for the following year.

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related area.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in teaching and/or extra-curricular student activities.
  • Good verbal and writing skills needed to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Good organizational skills required to coordinate numerous student activities.

    Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with both students, faculty, staff and parents.

    Availability to work evening and weekend hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Educational Administration or Counseling.

    Proven supervisory experience to effectively train and counsel staff and students as needed.

    Knowledge of leadership training and parliamentary procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently sit, perform desk based computer tasks and grasp light/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, write by hand, and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach/work about shoulder, grasp forcefully.

Working Conditions

  • This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
  • Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
  • Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
