Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking an Analytical Chemist near Coal City, IL.
Contract to Hire
Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 4am-4pm (work 36 hours, get paid for 40 hours)
Compensation: $32/hr DOE
General Description:
The Analytical Chemist is responsible for testing raw materials and in-process batches in accordance with established procedures. This role may also contribute to the development of new test methodologies. Daily tasks include utilizing instruments such as GC, IR, HPLC, and others. The position involves collaboration with multiple departments to resolve technical issues and enhance process efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct testing of all raw materials following established protocols; promptly notify appropriate parties when results do not meet required specifications.
- Perform testing on all in-process batches according to established protocols; promptly communicate results that do not meet specifications.
- Assist in providing recommendations to salvage in-process batches that do not meet specifications.
- Continuously work to improve testing methodologies and documentation, ensuring thorough and effective application of appropriate techniques.
- Operate required laboratory instrumentation to complete assigned analytical tasks.
- Perform periodic calibration of instruments, as trained and required, to ensure consistent accuracy of results.
- Collaborate with other departments to address and resolve technical challenges.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Effective time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree (BS) in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or related field required.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in validation, sample handling, and testing within production environments.
- Experience with GC, pH meter, FTIR, Brookfield viscometer, and moisture balance required.
- Experience in personal care industry a plus.
- Proficient in data analysis and report writing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
