JOB TITLE

  • Research Lab Technologist
JOB SUMMARY
  • Provide research and plant support in a laboratory environment.
  • The open position is located at the Baytown Technology and Engineering Complex and is based on an 8 hour work day.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Run and maintain lab scale equipment
  • Use and maintain a dry box
  • Experience with catalyst preparation
  • Use mechanical skills to problem solve equipment issues
  • Analyze samples made via analytical equipment
  • Interface with Ph.D. Engineers and Chemists daily
  • Calculates, analyzes, and interprets data
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • A Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline and relevant work experience
  • Experience using laboratory equipment
  • Experience using a dry box
  • Strong mechanical skillset
  • Strong problem solving skills. 
  • Capable of safe, reliable, and independent laboratory work given framing of problem and regular direction. 
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to learn new techniques as needed. 
  • Ability to read and follow detailed instructions.
  • Concern for accuracy and precision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong Excel experience
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Objectives
  • Experience in process troubleshooting
  • Understand standard industry nomenclature (ie. Interpret Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, etc)
  • Understand chemistry nomenclature
  • General chemistry laboratory skills and abilities (ie. Prepare solutions, etc)
  • Highly motivated – dependable
  • Maintains high safety focus with a low risk tolerance
  • Understanding of Lab Design Principles and Practices
  • High Multi-tasking abilities
  • Understand Process Safety Shutdown Systems and logic
  • Execute and oversee change management (MOC)
  • Order lab supplies and submit work orders
