Architectural Drafter/ Designer  Westlake, Ohio

Client in specialty, Architectural Design Services is currently hiring Two Designers.  Roles are permanent Contractor roles.  Only candidates interested in proving their worth and staying with our  client long-term should apply. Background in architecture, architectural/interior design, or product manufacturing diploma or degree in related field preferred.

Applies knowledge of engineering principles to improve design architectural metal shapes in sheet metal.
Has knowledge and experience with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures regarding Architectural design and sheet metal.
With support if-needed, resolves issues effectively and in a timely fashion with minimal financial impact to department.
Collaborates with department managers regarding current and ongoing projects requiring shop or production drawings.
With support if-needed , has ability to create final sets of Shop, Fabrication, and Installation drawings to be supplied to customer for approval, for manufacture or at time of shipment.
Facilitates issues related to design (shop drawings), manufacture (fabrication drawings) or installation (installation drawings) of products. To maintain project schedules.
Provides support and shares knowledge with internal and external customers.
Has responsibility for providing metal ceilings technical design support to architectural and sales representatives at a high level.

Position Description:
Consult with sales and architectural representatives regarding specialty ceiling projects requiring full shop drawings with Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish monthly, quarterly, and annual department goals.
Can take larger projects and separate them into smaller manageable portions.
Able to delegate and complete multiple tasks to meet project schedules.

Job Function will require all the following:
Creating & modifying shop, fabrication and product drawings using AutoCAD or other software.
Creating Bills of Material (BOM) through Excel or other software.
Preparing & modifying material Take off's (RTP) and release through our MRP system (M2M).
Creating and generating fabrication drawings and DXF's for manufacturing (RTM).

Must be a team player.
Must have a high level of organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
Skills in reading and interpreting architectural & other construction related drawings, documents, and specifications (2 are being hired, will consider 1-3 yrs. or 3-5 yrs., 5 plus years).
Proficient skills in AutoCAD as well as most common software platform.
Proficient, experienced and able to train “basic” computer skills including Microsoft Word & Excel as well as Adobe (PDF) products.
Strong knowledge and experience with commercial construction, building codes and sustainability (LEED) required.
Strong knowledge and experience with safety compliance programs with a strong emphasis on safety, quality and housekeeping required.

Education and Experience,  Preferred requirements:
5 years minimum job-related experience.
BS in related field preferred.
Background in architecture, architectural/interior design, or product manufacturing required; diploma or degree.
Ability to read and interoperate architectural drawings and specifications from architects and designers.
Proficient in AutoCAD; able to create and modify drawings accurately and in a timely manner.  Knowledge of, and experience with, BIM, Grasshopper, and SolidWorks encouraged but not required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to make decisions and prioritize tasks.
Organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
Employee relations skills to work within a diverse workforce environment with emphasis on safety.
Desire and motivation to progress a career.
Knowledge in building science and building codes would be an added asset but not required.
