Assistant Plant Manager
Location: Hampton, VA (Relocation Assistance not available)
Salary: $65,000 to $87,000 (DOE)

The Assistant Plant Manager directs manufacturing operations through a cross-functional team of managers and supervisors. The position ensures increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials, and machines through Lean initiatives. This position is also responsible for the Environmental as well as Health and Safety requirements for the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Execute specific lean production projects for process improvement.
•    Establish, train and guide teams in the completion of lean projects.
•    Conduct and manage 5S programs across the facility to make it a part of the culture through teamwork and employee engagement.
•    Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of improvement activities and make recommendations as appropriate.
•    Monitor and analyze production trends over various frequencies (daily, weekly, monthly, annually) to find opportunities for improving efficiencies and On-Time Delivery.
•    Assist with employee evaluations and disciplinary notices
•    Manage policy deployment in the areas of lean manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls, and plant performance measures.
•    Must understand the requirements of the following: ISO 9001-2015, DOT 3AL, Lean, Six Sigma, Kanban  
•    Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.
•    Conduct regular health and safety training and inspections.
•    Ensure compliance with state and local Environmental standards, waste reduction, OSHA, safety.
•    Manage compliance with state and federal regulations.
•    Responsible for Workers Compensation documentation 
•    Collect and analyze data to determine appropriate resource allocation for minimizing waste/scrap/inefficiencies and for maximizing output and profitability. 
•    Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
•    Bachelor of Science in engineering degree or equivalent.  
•    Minimum of 4 years of relevant manufacturing and engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
•    Management and supervisory experience whereby cost, schedule and performance commitments have been achieved. 
•    Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing improvement processes and projects. 
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required.
