Description

Job Summary: The Automation Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting projects and manufacturing operations by focusing on process development, machine programming, equipment acquisition, and manufacturing layout optimization. This position is instrumental in driving continuous improvement initiatives and providing engineering support for production.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on multi-site projects, leading the validation documentation efforts and participating in complex engineering initiatives with cross-functional teams.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements in manufacturing operations by evaluating process quality, cost, capacity, and capability alternatives.
  • Provide technical guidance in equipment design, material testing, and the preparation of specifications and operator instructions.
  • Lead investigations into process issues, including Nonconformances, complaint investigations, and audit observations, while developing corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Develop and execute process validation strategies, including Installation Qualification, Operation Qualification, Performance Qualification, and Computer Software Validation.
  • Participate in the acquisition of new equipment, encompassing user requirement specifications, machine selection, installation, validation, and employee training.
  • Create and implement manufacturing and inspection procedures, ensuring compliance with quality standards and documentation requirements.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance, and Product Development, to drive project success.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall engineering and manufacturing objectives.
Experience and Education:
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing and/or engineering is required, preferably within a regulated industry such as medical devices.
  • Experience in developing and executing Equipment Validation documentation and leading validation strategies is preferred.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming and automated manufacturing equipment is a plus.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of machine and electrical safety standards is preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Minitab, and database management.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities, with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Positive interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with team members.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
Additional Requirements:
  • Willingness to support global projects, which may involve travel.
  • Candidates must be open to relocating to San Angelo, as this position requires in-person attendance.
