Kelly® Engineering is seeking an Automation Engineer for a contract opportunity with a premier client supporting General Motors facilities in Flint and Bay City, Michigan. Overview
Our client is a leading engineering and automation services provider, supporting major automotive manufacturing facilities. They specialize in high-performance automation solutions across electrical, mechanical, and control systems.

We are seeking an Automation Engineer to support operations across GM's Flint and Bay City facilities. This role will focus on Rockwell Automation systems, troubleshooting complex automation issues, and ensuring compliance with GM standards and safety protocols.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve automation and control system issues.
  • Configure, maintain, and program Rockwell Automation and PLC systems.
  • Read, interpret, and apply electrical and system diagrams.
  • Ensure all work aligns with GM engineering and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for system integration and upgrades.
  • Clearly communicate technical information in both written and verbal formats.


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering and industrial automation.
  • Proficiency with Rockwell Automation, including PLC programming.
  • Experience with ControlLogix, Studio 5000, or RSLogix platforms preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical diagrams.
  • Familiarity with GM-specific standards and plant safety practices is a strong plus.
