DRAFTER - Pittsburgh, PA
$18/hr to $22/hr Based on Experience

Job Summary: 
Drafter, Closeout under the supervision of the Closeout Supervisor/Team, is responsible for carrying out utility diagram computer aided drafting assignments. Drafters will work with Closeout team members and internal stakeholders to collect data and utilize geographic information systems/engineering drawings to produce final As-built technical drawings for newly installed assets and pipeline retirements.
Essential Duties:

  • Provide CAD and drafting support for newly installed pipeline assets and retirements
  • Utilize GIS and GPS collection data to draft technical utility distribution pipeline diagrams
  • Gather, prepare, process, and produce capital construction project as-built drawings
  • Evaluate and compare design and as-built drawings for job scope
  • Revise and update prior technical drawings in accordance with current company SOPs, regulations, and state codes
  • Maintain informational databases, records, general data archives, or files using technical software including AutoCAD, Map3D, and Civil 3D.
  • Calculate and report footage of abandoned and/or installed mainline for As-built drawing
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Basic drafting skills in AutoCAD and other advanced software (Civil3D)
  • Utilize standard engineering practices and techniques to adjust and correlate data; recognize and resolve discrepancies
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation including civil and pipeline design drawings, construction specifications and other items. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of gas utility construction logic and sequencing
  • Experience and understanding in GIS mapping concepts
  • Proficient skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other Microsoft office programs
  • Knowledge of applicable policies, practices and procedures, as well as Good planning, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and successfully meet deadlines
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, such as pipeline installation design and as-built drawings, valve diagrams, GIS maps, etc.
Basic Qualifications  Experience/ Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in Drafting, GIS, Construction, Engineering or related field.  Related military experience, technical training in drafting is accepted in lieu of degree
  • Minimum one year of related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
Working Conditions:
  • Office locations, and if needed visit within service territory for projects
  • Operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Endure physical demands, including maneuvering at work locations (including visual acuity, hearing, communicating, manual dexterity and repetitive motions)
