CNC Machine Operator – Tooling Department
Location: Farmington, CT
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
Pay Rate: $23.00–$30.00/hr (DOE)
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire
We're hiring CNC Machine Operators to join the Tooling Department in Farmington. In this role, you'll set up and operate CNC machinery to produce tooling punches, strippers, and dies, while performing assembly and testing as needed. This position is ideal for operators who enjoy precision work, problem-solving, and helping develop new processes.
What You'll Do

  • Interpret routings, work instructions, and blueprints to complete production orders.
  • Create or modify CNC programs, including selecting proper speeds and feeds.
  • Set up and operate CNC machines, tooling, fixtures, and workholding per the production schedule.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process issues during machining.
  • Use precision measurement tools to verify quality and maintain tight tolerances.
  • Support improvements to tooling production methods and processes.
  • Participate in daily shop floor meetings and communicate with team members.
  • Maintain 5S standards and perform operator TPM tasks.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and stay current on required safety training.
What You'll Need
  • CNC machining experience in a production or tooling environment.
  • Strong blueprint reading and measurement tool skills.
  • Ability to edit or create CNC programs (milling or turning).
  • Solid troubleshooting skills and comfort working with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of production workflows, fixtures, and workholding setups.
  • Dependable, safety-focused, and detail-oriented.
