CNC Programmer – Pontiac, MI
We're hiring a CNC Programmer to join our Pattern Shop team in Pontiac, MI! This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity offering competitive pay, benefits, and career growth.

  • Schedule: 1st Shift - Mon-Fri | 7:00am - 3:30pm
  • Salary Range: $60,000 – $80,000 annually (based on experience)

About the Role:
As a CNC Programmer, you'll play a key role in producing the tooling and fixtures that keep our thermoforming operations running. You'll be responsible for writing programs, setting up and running multi-axis CNC machines, and working on a wide range of materials including wood, foam, plastics, and metals. This role also involves fabrication, troubleshooting, and collaborating with production teams to ensure precision, quality, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program and run 3-axis, 3+2, and 5-axis CNC machines using G-code and M-code.
  • Design, set up, and operate fixtures for machining, trimming, and GD&T-based check fixtures.
  • Contribute to the design and engineering of custom projects based on shop needs.
  • Apply woodworking, welding, and metal fabrication skills to support projects.
  • Diagnose and resolve CNC and machine tool issues, including preventative maintenance.
  • Oversee workflow from the CNC department into production to meet scheduling needs.
  • Interact with customers to deliver accurate, high-quality parts.
  • Estimate materials and order supplies needed for projects.
  • Produce both prototype and production-ready wood and aluminum patterns.
  • Document quality checks and maintain ISO-related records.
  • Keep an organized inventory of shop tools and materials.

What We're Looking For:
  • Journeyman Pattern Maker background preferred.
  • Hands-on CNC programming, machine setup, and troubleshooting experience.
  • CAD/CAM proficiency required (SolidWorks or Autodesk Fusion preferred).
  • Background in design engineering and fabrication.
  • Comfortable with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, steel rules).
  • Skilled with pneumatic and power tools (die grinders, saws, grinders, drills).
  • Bridgeport experience a plus, but not required.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Self-driven, adaptable, and able to work both independently and with a team.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to engineer practical solutions.
