Kelly Services is actively recruiting for a Cybersecurity Engineer - Alerting and Rule Tuning for a Long Term Contract opportunity in Midland, MI.

Job Overview
As an Entry-Level Detection Engineer, you will play a critical role in safeguarding Dow's digital assets by detecting and responding to cyber threats. Utilizing your analytical skills and knowledge of cybersecurity principles, you will work within our cybersecurity team to monitor, analyze, and respond to security events, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of our systems and data. This position offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development in the field of cybersecurity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Threat Detection and Response:
    • Investigate and respond to alerts generated by intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), antivirus solutions, and other security tools.
    • Conduct in-depth analysis of security incidents to determine the root cause and impact.
    • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified security risks.
  • Incident Handling and Remediation:
    • Work closely with incident response teams to contain and mitigate security incidents.
    • Document incident details, including the timeline of events, actions taken, and lessons learned for post-incident analysis.
    • Assist in developing and maintaining incident response procedures and playbooks.
  • Attack Simulation and Red Teaming:
    • Plan and execute simulated cyber-attacks to assess the effectiveness of existing security controls and detection capabilities.
    • Identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses in the organization's systems and infrastructure through penetration testing and red team exercises.
    • Provide recommendations for improving security posture based on the findings of attack simulations.
  • Rule Tuning and Optimization:
    • Review and analyze security alerts and events to fine-tune detection rules and signatures for better accuracy and fidelity.
    • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to optimize security controls and configurations based on emerging threats and attack patterns.
    • Continuously assess the effectiveness of detection mechanisms and refine detections to enhance the organization's ability to detect and respond to cyber threats.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and coordination during security incidents.
    • Provide regular updates to management and stakeholders on the security posture of the organization.
    • Participate in knowledge sharing sessions and contribute to the continuous improvement of cybersecurity processes.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including threat detection and incident response.
  • Familiarity with network protocols, TCP/IP stack, and common security technologies.
  • Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, antivirus, and endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) are desirable.
