Title: EH&S (Environmental Health & Safety) Site Lead
Location: Boulder, CO (Onsite role)
Pay rate: $65.00 - $68.00 BOE

This role is responsible for fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. The EHS Site Lead will collaborate closely with staff at the Boulder, CO site and other locations as needed to implement and uphold company-wide safety and health policies.
This position will lead the development and execution of comprehensive EHS programs and initiatives, including but not limited to:

  • Contractor and construction safety
  • Industrial hygiene
  • Chemical management
  • Lock-Out-Tag-Out LOTO
  • Confined space entry
  • Powered industrial trucks
  • Electrical safety
  • Hazard communication
  • DOT dangerous goods
  • Warehouse and laboratory safety
  • Chemical hygiene
  • Hearing conservation
  • Environmental sustainability
The EHS Site Lead will also provide general project management support and act as a liaison with subject matter experts across departments to drive compliance, reduce risk, and support continuous improvement efforts across the facility.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop and implement technical safety initiatives that support operations efficiently and on schedule.
  • Oversee the design and execution of safety programs that ensure safe, compliant, and effective operation of manufacturing systems.
  • Administer the Industrial Hygiene IH program, including testing, protocol development, and implementation of a risk-based IH strategy.
  • Deliver environmental and sustainability programs, including air emissions, stormwater, wastewater, pollution prevention, hazardous waste management, and re-quired environmental reporting.
  • Manage the Process Safety Management PSM aspects, including Process Hazard Analysis PHA, Management of Change MOC, and Mechanical Integrity MI.
  • Act as the tactical liaison between EH S and site expansion or construction projects, collaborating with project sponsors and support teams.
  • Serve as the EH S representative supporting the sites functional business units.
  • Continuously enhance the risk assessment process to proactively identify and mitigate enterprise-level risks.
  • Lead and participate in investigations, addressing compliance concerns and resolving regulatory questions.
  • Support the development and implementation of the sites EHS Management System.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, QC Labs, Chemical Development, Analytical Labs, and Engineering to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company EHS requirements.
  • Partner with US EH S teams to implement global initiatives and align site practices with enterprise standards.
  • Serve as an active member of the sites Emergency Response Team ERT, responding to emergencies within your level of training, including CPR, First Aid, AED use, and chemical spill response.
  • Perform other duties assigned to support EHS and site objectives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health safety, engineering, or applied sciences is required.
  • 10+ years related experience
Desired Skills:
  • EHS certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) for safety management, Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • GMP Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Experience working at a Process Safety Management (PSM) facility.
  • Strong understanding of EH&S principles, including relevant laws and regulations.
  • Proven ability to design, develop, and implement EHS Management Systems (safety, environmental, and health programs).
  • Ability to assess processes and equipment for risks; develop solutions to reduce hazards and environmental impact
  • Familiarity with EH&S Management Systems such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Experience in research laboratories, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical environments.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in diverse environments.
    Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Readiness to respond to emergencies and lead effectively in critical situations.
  • Ability to identify hazards, drive continuous improvement, and implement practical risk control measures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels.
