Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Senior Environmental Health and Safety Scientist/Engineer  for a direct hire position at a premier client in Indianapolis, IN (preferred) or: Columbus, OH, Cleveland, OH, Lancaster, PA, Philadelphia, PA (offices in each city). Schedule: First Shift M-F

Overview
This role provides a pathway to become a Senior Manager who is responsible for management, development, and supervision of personnel within the EHS Group. The Senior EHS is responsible for managing personnel and performing and overseeing various aspects of field, EHS, engineering, project management, technical support and consulting related to EHS, data analysis, environmental media sampling, and construction support. This includes writing proposals, preparing budgets, and performing final review (QA/QC) on all work products (proposals, reports, report sections, etc.). Work is performed with direction from Project/Senior Managers within the various service areas, under the general supervision of the Managing Principal of Technical Services. 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee work performed by the EHS Group including assigning tasks, reviewing work product, and assist in staff development  
  • Perform personnel management and administrative oversight for all positions within the EHS Group 
  • Assist employees in meeting performance expectations  
  • Collaborate with other groups (Data, Geology, Field Operations, and Report Writing) and departments to accomplish tasks  
  • Evaluate project needs, effectively delegate various tasks and responsibilities, and supervise performance 
  • Administer projects  
  • Prepare, review, and update standard operating procedures  
  • Participate in short- and long-term strategic planning    
  • Act as primary point of contact for the EHS Group within company
  • Identify, coach, and mentor staff and other Technical Services team members to successfully complete projects 
  • Responsible for final review (QA/QC) of EHS Group work product  
  • Interpret existing regulations and guidance and coordinate with consultants in developing strategies to ensure compliance related to EHS systems 
  • Design and develop in situ remediation strategies tailored to specific site conditions and contaminant types 
  • Review remedial system data to evaluate efficiency and optimize performance 
  • Prepare and submit permit applications to regulatory agencies, including compiling necessary documentation, data, and reports 
  • Attend 16 hours of external training per year  
  • Prepare proposals for company service areas and external clients 
  • Provide requested support to staff, Project Managers, and Senior Managers for client development   
  • Assist with business development and developing new income streams 

Qualifications:
  • B.S. in a Life Science or B.S. in Engineering 
  • 6-8 years of experience in environmental consulting
  • Maintain a signatory credential recognized in the State of Indiana and/or other state in which company has an office, such as LPG, CHMM, Soil Scientist, or PE
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills are a must. Personnel Management is a plus
  • Must have a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and capable of operating vehicles safely
  • In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations pertaining to air, water, soil, and hazardous materials
  • Act as a liaison for the client with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget
  • Demonstrate leadership skills with the ability to lead and mentor staff, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and oversee project teams
  • This classification requires travel to various client locations resulting in occasional longer workdays; and may include extended and/or further travel, resulting in multiple days and overnights. Long distance drives and air travel may be required. 
  • 75% or more office (controlled environment), up to 25% field/site visit travel (environmental job hazards)
