Description

Field Service Technician
Ability to travel extensively (70-80% ~250 days/year)

Essential Responsibilities
  • Commissioning Water Treatment Plants by ensuring process equipment and control systems perform per specifications.
  • Act as construction liaison between design engineering and construction teams during plant erection.
  • Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance on-site.
  • Manage activities of outside vendors and suppliers; ensure services and supplies meet project specifications and performance requirements.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and log sheets to document and monitor equipment operation.
  • Develop and execute commissioning schedules and performance plans.
  • Create and conduct classroom and hands-on training sessions for operation and maintenance of process equipment.
  • Participate in model reviews, engineering design meetings, and safety-in-design reviews to ensure accessibility, maintenance, and operation of process equipment.
  • Perform control system factory acceptance tests with clients and their representatives.
  • Deliver after-market services such as site inspections, equipment inspections, and operator training.
  • Maintain a strong safety mindset to ensure work adheres to VEOLIA safety standards.
  • Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and reference for future outages.
Technical Skills & Abilities
  • Apply mathematical operations to water treatment chemistry calculations, test reliability, budget analysis, and monitoring Time & Material contract costs.
  • Troubleshoot alignment and plumb adjustment figures using plane geometry and chemistry formulas.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions for improving operations or identifying design limitations.
  • Perform PLC/HMI activities: I/O checkout, system networking, program upload/download, ladder logic, function block troubleshooting, and simple logic programming.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and communicate.
  • Occasionally required to walk, climb, or balance.
  • Must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
  • Moderate noise level; possible exposure to loud noise on-site.
  • Site assignments may be in foreign countries with accommodations in remote work camps.
  • Frequent outdoor work at water treatment facilities.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the water treatment field.
  • Strong focus on customer relationships (external and internal).
  • Demonstrated ability to balance customer and VEOLIA team needs.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills and knowledge.
