Position Summary:
We are looking for a reliable and meticulous individual to fill the position of Material Handler within our organization. Candidates should possess strong organizational abilities and previous experience related to warehousing, inventory oversight, and shipping/receiving functions. The Material Handler will manage shipment records, coordinate customer order packaging, and ensure that the work area remains clean and organized. This is a physically active role within a dynamic manufacturing environment, ideal for someone detail-oriented who can perform tasks independently or as part of a team.
Primary Duties:
Shipping & Receiving:
- Oversee documentation and records for all inbound and outbound shipments.
- Input key shipment information, such as weights, fees, damages, and irregularities, for follow-up and auditing.
- Accept, unpack, check, and log incoming materials in accordance with ISO guidelines.
- Replenish and organize packing supplies to sustain efficient inventory levels.
- Spend approximately 75% of time on forklift, additional time will be spend handling materials and completing other tasks.
- Retrieve items required for direct manufacturing applications.
- Organize inventory for efficient storage and accessibility.
- Enter and update precise inventory records for ongoing tracking.
- Prepare goods for distribution by packing, sealing, labeling, and posting items.
- Comply with defined packaging standards and requirements for each order.
- Securely wrap and bundle outbound packages for safe transportation.
- Load and offload shipments while following safe material handling practices.
- Keep the work area free of hazards and maintain an orderly environment.
- Abide by organizational safety guidelines and operational rules.
- Operate warehouse vehicles and equipment, including forklifts, as necessary.
Knowledge:
- Five years or more in warehouse or production environments preferred.
- Experienced in using Microsoft Office for communication and record-keeping.
- Strong grasp of warehouse workflow and inventory management practices.
- 3+ Years Hilo Operating Experience, experience as a trainer is a plus.
- Capable of correctly reading and processing shipping paperwork and packing lists.
- Knowledgeable in safe handling and optimal packing methods for materials.
- Certified or experienced in forklift operation.
- Self-driven, dependable, and able to work without constant supervision.
- Must regularly lift boxes weighing up to 55 pounds from ground level to work surfaces.
- Ability to stand and walk throughout a typical 9.5-hour workday.
- Move collections of parts weighing up to 200 pounds across distances up to 100 feet.
- Frequently stretch and reach to manage items from various containers and conveyors.
- Willingness to bend, squat, and twist in the handling of parts.
- Repetitive wrist movements when inserting or removing items from machinery.
The role is performed in a busy production facility where safety glasses are mandatory at all times. Workers can expect temperature fluctuations (from 45°F to 110°F), as well as exposure to dust, fumes, and some hazardous substances or oils.
