Location:  5636 E McDowell Road Phoenix, AZ 85008 

Employment: 6 months with a chance of permanency 

Shift: Day Shift | 8AM to 5PM | Monday to Friday | Onsite 

Pay Rate: $27.13/hr 

 

Summary of Responsibilities:  

The Grant Specialist oversees mid-level grant management and financial administration for awarded state and federal grant programs. This role manages reimbursement requests, ensures compliance with funding requirements, and assists emergency management staff and applicants with developing competitive grant applications for future funding opportunities. The position requires strong financial oversight, effective communication, and the ability to work within state and federal regulatory frameworks. All candidates must be eligible for full-time conversion, as no visa sponsorship is offered. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Manage assigned state and federal grant awards from initiation through closeout. 

  • Oversee financial reimbursement processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with funding regulations. 

  • Provide financial tracking, reporting, and oversight to maintain alignment with grant budgets and timelines. 

  • Support Emergency Management staff and applicants in preparing and submitting grant applications. 

  • Review applications, project proposals, and documentation to ensure adherence to grant requirements. 

  • Communicate with stakeholders, applicants, and internal teams regarding grant status, eligibility, and compliance. 

  • Maintain accurate grant documentation, records, and financial reports. 

  • Ensure timely submission of reimbursements, amendments, and required grant deliverables. 

  • Assist in identifying federal and state funding opportunities for emergency management initiatives. 

  • Comply with agency, state, and federal regulations governing grants and funding programs. 

Must-haves:  

  • Experience in grant management, grant administration, or financial oversight 

  • Knowledge of state and federal grant regulations and reimbursement processes 

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent grants or projects 

  • Proficiency in financial tracking, reporting, and documentation 

  • Ability to develop or assist with grant applications 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Eligibility for full-time employment (no visa sponsorship available) 

  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory and compliance requirements 

Skills Desired/Preferred:  

  • Experience working in emergency management or government agencies 

  • Familiarity with federal systems such as FEMA grants, HHS, DOJ, or similar platforms 

  • Experience with auditing, financial compliance, or program monitoring 

  • Advanced Excel or financial data management skills 

  • Experience preparing competitive grant proposals 

  • Certifications in grant management (e.g., GPC, CGMS)
