About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on, people-focused Human Resources Generalist to join our team in Sauk Village, IL! This position is a contract-to-hire opportunity with the potential to convert to a permanent role

As the first point of contact for new employees, you'll play a key role in onboarding, training, and employee engagement within a dynamic manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate enjoys being on the floor, connecting with employees, answering questions, and keeping things running smoothly.

You'll report to the HR Business Partner/Manager and partner closely with leadership to support initiatives in onboarding, learning and development, performance management, and employee relations.

What You'll Do

  • Lead onboarding and orientation sessions—making a great first impression for all new hires
  • Conduct bi-weekly HR orientations and safety trainings at nearby facilities (less than 10 minutes away)
  • Support managers and employees with HR inquiries, ensuring clear communication and timely follow-up
  • Coordinate learning and development initiatives and assist with employee training schedules
  • Help with performance management and employee engagement activities
  • Maintain HR data, records, and reports in HRIS and Excel (intermediate to advanced skills preferred)
  • Assist with wellness initiatives, event coordination, and quarterly meetings (including the company picnic!)
  • Contribute to special projects and process improvement efforts across HR

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree preferred (Associate's accepted with experience)
  • 2–5 years of experience in an HR role—manufacturing, warehouse or industrial experience highly preferred
  • Comfortable working in an older facility and engaging with employees across shifts
  • Strong communicator who enjoys helping others and doesn't get easily frustrated
  • Confident facilitating small group trainings or discussions
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel (intermediate or advanced)
  • Experience with HRIS/HCM systems (UKG a plus)
  • Must have a reliable vehicle to commute to a nearby training facility as needed

Schedule & Hiring Process

  • On-site: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (flexible to 7:30 start if needed)
