Industrial Engineer
Location: Ithaca, NY (Relocation assistance available)
Pay: $80,000 to $110,000 (Depending on experience)

The Industrial Engineer will plan and conduct work requiring judgment in independent evaluations, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. This requires devising new approaches to problems encountered. This position will be primarily responsible for production floor support and process improvement for the assembly of complex, tight tolerance components utilizing automated assembly equipment including power and free conveyor systems, robotics, and vision systems. Additional responsibilities include procurement of new equipment to support capacity uplifts and new programs as well as quoting of new business. 

Key Accountabilities 
• Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. 
• Plans and designs manufacturing processes in industrial plant. Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization. 
• Determines parts and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.
• Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice. Controls a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and difficult coordination requirements. 
• Retains a broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a firm understanding of principles and practices of related specialties. May supervise technicians on assigned work when needed. 
• Provides a smooth interchange of ideas and information between supervisor, engineers, co-workers, and customers. 
• Analyzing operations 
• Designing workflows and production processes 
• Reducing inefficiency 
• Ensuring that final products meet the established quality standards 
• Evaluating current manufacturing practices and identifying those needing improvement 
• Improving the efficiency of production processes 
• Evaluating employees' tasks and responsibilities, identifying procedures or tools to improve productivity. 

Education and experience 
• A BS in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering 
Minimum 3 to 5 years related experience in a technical environment required; experience in the automotive industry or a global manufacturing company preferred. 
• Candidate must have a very good understanding of engineering and scientific theory principles, concepts, techniques, and processes and should be able to apply experience to determine appropriate technique and procedure in efficient manner with little direction or guidance.
