TITLE:  Laboratory Technician
PAY:  $20/hour W2
DURATION:  12 months - possibility to extend
LOCATION:  Onsite – Indianapolis, IN
SCHEDULE:  800-430pm CST - Mon-Fri

Description:
With guidance from supervisor and within established procedures, conducts routine research laboratory activities, and helps set up, plant, maintain, and evaluate experiments in support of agricultural research. Will provide support to labs working with insects, plant pathogens, and plant parasitic nematodes. Requires attention to detail and ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. Work will take place in laboratory and greenhouse environments. Some lab or greenhouse experience desired.

Technician for Seed Applied Technology
Core Responsibilities:
- Support research projects to help understand how chemical and biologicals protect plants from pests.
- Capable of working with insects, nematodes, and plant material while completing highly detailed work.
- Organize seeds, plant seeds into soil, monitor plants, record observations, infest plants with insects, count insects, wash soil from roots.
- Work will be in ~30% in the greenhouse and ~70% in the lab.
- Maintain lab cleanliness.
- Lifting up to 40lbs may occur.
- Perform all work adhering to company safety policies and procedures.
- Work in a team with other scientists.

Required Qualifications:
- B.S. in biological sciences preferred, associate degree in plant science, environmental sciences or a closely related major; or directly applicable experience
- Experience with plant science or insects
- Ability to work independently
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly motivated with a desire to work in a laboratory and greenhouse setting
- Flexibility to shift focus throughout the day as needed to meet customer demands.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Lab or greenhouse experience with insects in soil or on plants
- Previous experience conducting research testing
