Job Title: Laboratory Analyst I/II
Schedule:
- 7:00am - 3:30PM Wednesday, Thursday, Friday OR
- 7:00am - 3:30PM Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Pay Range: $30 - $40/hour
Length of Assignment: Up to 4 months
Location: Napa, CA
Overview:
Under general supervision (Laboratory Analyst I) to direction (Laboratory Analyst II), this position performs standard and moderately complex physical, chemical, and bacteriological analyses and data interpretation of surface and ground water, wastewater, and recycled water. Duties include conducting field sampling and field investigations, and other assigned tasks.
Supervision Received and Exercised:
- Laboratory Analyst I: Receives general supervision from the Regulatory Compliance Manager.
- Laboratory Analyst II: Receives direction and exercises judgment and initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule, perform, and interpret various tests on wastewater and recycled water samples.
- Recognize and recommend solutions for potential problems in analytical procedures.
- Prepare and standardize chemical reagents; maintain laboratory data in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments; collect water samples using field equipment.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local laws and regulations on sampling and testing.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Laboratory Analyst I/II: Associate degree in chemistry, microbiology, or a related physical science.
- Laboratory Analyst I: No experience required.
- Laboratory Analyst II: Three years of relevant experience in a laboratory.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Laboratory Analyst I/II: Valid California Class C Driver's License.
- Laboratory Analyst I: California Water Environmental Association Grade I Laboratory Analyst Certificate (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
- Laboratory Analyst II: California Water Environmental Association Grade II Laboratory Analyst Certificate.
Physical Demands:
- Mobility to work in laboratory settings and perform physical tasks involving handling materials up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to chemicals and physical substances in varying indoor and outdoor environments.
Environmental Conditions:
- Exposure to loud noise, inclement weather conditions, hazardous chemicals, and interaction with upset individuals may be required.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work unusual shifts, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
