TITLE:  Laboratory Technician
PAY:  $24/hour W2
DURATION:  12 months - possibility to extend
LOCATION:  Onsite – Indianapolis, IN
SCHEDULE:  800-500pm CST - Mon-Fri

Description:
With guidance from supervision, assists technical personnel in general laboratory operations and routine laboratory or information handling tasks in support of scientific research. Perform tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the work group.

Purpose
Under the general direction of the management, the incumbent aids in the development of agricultural products through helping to maintain core lab functions.

• Analysts
• Candidate must be dedicated, reliable, attention to detail, multi-task, able to work on their own.
• This is a long-term assignment with several possibilities to work with multiple groups.
• Training will be provided.
• Any additional Medical Surveillance testing required? no medical surveillance testing
• Any exposure to common allergens? Latex (but also have other gloves available)

Key responsibilities:

  • Under the direction and guidance of the study director, maintain GLP instrumentation to ensure compliant data collection.
  • Maintain liquid and solid waste. This includes special C-14 radiolabel waste procedures.
    Serve as combustion analyst and ensure that data are being generated, documented in a manner consistent with SOPs, GLP requirements, and the study plan.
  • Instrumentation Calibration with Oxidizers and Microbetas
  • Responsible for compliance with laboratory safety procedures, Good Laboratory Practices, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Supports daily operations of the analytical laboratories by maintaining the instrumentation.
  • Exercise appropriate safety behaviors to minimize risk to themselves and to ensure the integrity of the study.
  • HPLC, UPLC

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree is ideal. Associates okay if they also have relevant experience.
  • Looking for someone with some science (bio, chem, lab, etc) experience.
  • Chemistry background most helpful

• Attention to detail
• Good listening skills
• Has a positive attitude
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere - current team is 10 members.
• Knowledge of analytical techniques appropriate to the GLP group or area
