Electrical Engineering (Carlisle, PA)

Our client, a premium manufacturer and supplier of premium building products and related technologies, is currently in need of several Electrical Engineers, Carlisle, PA, their headquarters, due to growth.  Three newly-created roles are available in both their and Construction Materials and Architectural Materials divisions.

The Electrical Engineering Lead will receive engineering work requests associated with capital and/or major maintenance projects, and existing production and utility equipment associated with campus manufacturing operations.  He/She will participate in the review, evaluation, and prioritization of these requests.    Assignments from work requests that are deemed viable will be distributed between the EE Lead and his/her direct reports.  The EE lead and direct reports are primarily responsible for the execution (specification, procurement, implementation, installation, and closeout) of production/utility equipment and facilities projects. This position will provide engineering expertise to assist plant-level Maintenance, Production/Operations, EH&S, and management personnel in identifying, funding, and solving technical process issues. Technical assistance will require understanding of plant power distribution systems and process/machinery control systems. A practical level of understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles are to be applied to assigned project work.

Essential Duties:                                                                                  
Organize, delegate, and monitor the project and task assignments made to your direct reports.
Complete all administrative management duties in a timely fashion.
Project management that includes scope development, funding requests, budget tracking, communication planning, schedule tracking, and project execution.
Coordinate activities of contractors and plant maintenance personnel during and associated with project execution.
As needed, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with existing process equipment and control systems across several local plants.
Provide training and technical assistance to plant-level Maintenance, Production/Operations, EH&S, and management personnel to ensure all project goals are successfully attained.
Design/specify using the latest hardware and software components, design machine control systems to maximize equipment productivity and assure all code requirements and safety standards are strictly met.
Collaborate, coordinate, and align with engineering peers in all areas of the company but particularly in central Engineering and at manufacturing locations. 

Essential Full Performance Skills:
Interpretation of mechanical design drawings to facilitate derivation of electrical requirements.
Understanding and evaluation of component, equipment or installation proposals.
Programming of basic control system logic (ladder logic, structured text, function block).
Configuration and tuning of variable frequency drives (VFDs).
Interpretation of electrical/controls drawings.
Development of detailed equipment/installation specifications and RFQs.
Utilize and interpret technical data sheets and manuals.
Advanced problem-solving skills.
Advanced analytical comparison and value judgment skills.

Minimum Requirements:                                                                                       
BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum of 3 years industrial/manufacturing experience in a controls engineering capacity.
Project Management Fundamentals.
Proficient in Rockwell Automation software and Allen-Bradley hardware.
Proficient in general industrial controls, manufacturing processes.

Preferred:
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
Understanding of high and low-voltage power distribution (high voltage essential).
Industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus).
Understanding of open/closed control loops (PIDs).
Understanding of electrical wiring principles based on the National Electric Code (NEC).
Data Historian development.
Software/Data communication protocols (OPC-UA/OPC-DA).
Understanding of AutoCAD Electrical.
Cognizant of latest developments in controls/technology.

The right Electrical Engineer without controls experience may be considered for the architectural product lines.  The right entry level candidate may also be considered.
