Position: Machinist
Location: Youngstown, Ohio 
Pay: $24.15 to $26.19 based on experience
Shift: 1st & 2nd

About Us: Kelly has partnered with a premiere customer in Youngstown, Ohio and looking for a Machinist to join their team! 

Job Description:
The Machinist plays a crucial role in our operations by maintaining and/or creating tooling to match part drawings in accordance with quality and production standards. The individual will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to reading blueprints, using measuring devices, repairing, or modifying production tools, and participating in continuous improvement activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and understand blueprints to create or modify existing tooling for new and existing jobs.
  • Repair or requisition replacement parts, tooling, or hardware needed to maintain adequate stock.
  • Repair/modify production tools and make new die inserts as needed.
  • Ensure good housekeeping and work in a safe manner, maintaining tooling in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Execute assignments using machine tools ranging from lathes to milling machines, grinders, and other necessary equipment.
  • Exercise considerable care and attention when handling all tooling to prevent damage and ensure proper maintenance and cleaning.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance, including checking oil, grease, and coolant.
  • Assist Tool and Die Maker in daily activities.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2 or more years' experience as a Machinist/Tool & Die Journeyman.
  • CNC experience is a plus.
  • Ability to use measuring devices including but not limited to Mic's, Calipers, depth gauges, indicators, and tape measures.
  • Basic mathematical skills and understanding of geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense and prior experience in problem-solving situations.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Dependability, quality assurance, ethics/professionalism, and judgment.
  • Safety awareness and ability to observe safety and security procedures.

Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly required to stand and sit, use hands to feel or handle tools, objects, and controls.
  • Occasionally required to lift or move up to 40 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required including peripheral vision, close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is rarely exposed to vibration.
  • Work environment may involve loud noise levels.

Additional Skills/or Abilities:
  • Strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills are desirable.
  • Medium to moderate physical exertion required for various tasks.
  • Must be able to mount tooling weighing up to 60 lbs. with the assistance of lift trucks, hoists, and cranes.
