Job Posting: Manual Machine Operator – Mill & Lathe
Location: Houston, TX 77047 (South houston)
Job Type: Full-Time temp-Hire
Pay: $23.00 – $31.00 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: 2nd shift (M-F) 2:00pm-10:30pm w/ some Saturdays
Position Summary
As a Manual Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating turret and engine lathes to perform close-tolerance machining operations. This position requires working with tight deadlines and specifications, particularly on precision components such as air products and customer returns.
Key Responsibilities-
Set up and operate manual mills and engine lathes to produce high-precision parts.

Cut internal and external threads, drill, bore, turn, ream, and face components to exact tolerances.

Read and interpret drawings, process sheets, blueprints, and sketches.

Select appropriate speeds, feeds, tools, and fixtures for each job.

Inspect finished parts using micrometers, verniers, gauges, and other precision tools.

Maintain and sharpen own tools and keep machines in optimal working condition.

Report blueprint errors or recommend corrections as needed.

Handle customer returns and rework processes including springing and plating.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Complete inspection reports and submit rate changes as needed.

Work under moderate supervision and assist in lower-level tasks when necessary.

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience: 5–10 years of manual machining experience required.

Technical Training: Trade school or equivalent experience (5 years preferred).

Strong background in machining finish-grade components to tight tolerances.

Ability to independently set up and operate manual lathes and mills.

Proficient in reading blueprints and technical specifications.

Strong math skills (fractions, decimals, conversions, etc.).

Excellent judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment.

Able to stand, lift, and operate manual equipment for extended periods.

Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Requires full use of hands and vision for precision work.
