  • Pay Rate: $32.93 per hour 
  • Location: Savannah, GA
  • Schedule: 5:30 am to 4:00 am
What a typical day as an Upholsterer might look like: 
  • Upholster and re-upholster aircraft seats, panels, and interior components according to company standards and FAA regulations
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate assembly and installation of upholstery materials
  • Select appropriate fabrics, leathers, and other materials for upholstery based on durability, aesthetics, and safety requirements
  • Operate and maintain various tools and equipment such as sewing machines, cutting tools, and adhesive applicators
  • Conduct quality inspections of completed upholstery work to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer expectations
  • Collaborate with design engineers, production managers, and other team members to resolve any technical issues or design challenges
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
  • Maintain records of materials used, work performed, and time spent on each project
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and techniques related to aerospace upholstery
  • Provide training and guidance to junior upholsterers as needed.

This job might be an outstanding fit if you have: 
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in upholstery preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an upholsterer, preferably in the aerospace industry or a similarly regulated environment.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship, with the ability to produce precise and aesthetically pleasing upholstery work.
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations and industry standards related to aircraft interior design and construction.
