Mechanical Technician/Electron Beam Technician - Morgantown, PA
Night Shift - 12AM to 8AM -- $30/hr to $32/hr + 10% Shift Differential

Job Description

Summary

  • Proof of US citizenship, nationality, and/or permanent resident status is required to comply with export and import laws and regulations.
  • Responsibilities include rebuilding cathode units and stab assemblies, troubleshooting and repairing Electron Beam (EB) guns, and performing preventive maintenance on EB guns.

Essential Functions

  • Rebuild cathode plug assemblies to achieve maximum reliability.
  • Rebuild cathode plug supports and high-voltage (H.V.) stab connections.
  • Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance and cleaning of EB guns at regular intervals.
  • Make major repairs and adjustments to EB guns as requested by furnace personnel.
  • Maintain a complete spare parts and supplies inventory to support 24/7 operations.
  • Coordinate outside repairs and machining of EB gun parts.
  • Assist with other maintenance and repair requirements in the Melt Shop as needed.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum high school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Trade school certificate in machinist discipline or additional schooling preferred.
  • EB Furnace Operator experience strongly desired.
  • Attention to detail required.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators accurately.
  • Machine experience and complex assembly experience helpful.
