1st shift Toolmaker - DIRECT HIRE
Location:
 Watertown, CT
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Pay: $30–$38 per hour
Employment Type: Full-Time

The Toolmaker / Mold Repair Journeyperson is required to maintain the control of processes in Toolmaking/Mold Repair. The role also provides support to the execution of the production schedule including anything from component changes, setups, and start-ups.  The role is required to assist / support in all areas of Eyelet stamping, regardless of the task, to facilitate hands on teamwork.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting and Resolution of tooling concerns for injection molds, tooling, and presses.
  • Service and repair Injection molds and tooling.
  • Modify existing tooling for fit and function in an injection molding application.
  • Review and repair injection mold tooling for issues related to quality callouts.
  • Provide direction to non-Mold Makers in the department
  • Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must Possess Journey Person Card
  • Completed RJG Courses
  • Strong Mechanical ability
  • Set Up and Operate General Tool Room Equipment (Lathes, Milling Machines, Grinders, etc.)
  • Ability to read interpret Engineering Drawings
  • Read blueprints and use necessary measuring devices to make, modify, existing tooling.
  • Ability to create high quality, tight tolerance parts.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • CNC and EDM experience a plus
  • Knowledge of Injection Mold Process/Tooling
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting and maintaining injection molding manifolds a plus
  • Can independently conduct repairs or determine course of action for themselves and others
  • Has a good understanding of mold design and construction.
  • Participates in mold design reviews.
  • Can polish to an A-2 finish
  • Provides direction to others.
  • Must have strong mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of Metal Drawing/Forming Processes a plus
  • General Knowledge of Common Molding Resins (Polypropylene, Polyethylene, etc.)
  • Must be able to understand and perform to quality standards and methods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must have 3-5 Years in a Plastics Manufacturing Environment
Physical Demands (Reasonable accommodations provided):
  • Ability to lift and/or move 50 lbs.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the production floor
  • Visually capable of working on complex miniature components
  • Physical requirements include but not limited to sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, stooping, crouching, color determination and grasping
