Job Title: Machine Operator/Powder Coat Specialist

Compensation: $20/hr
Location: Farmington
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM–3:30 PM | Full-Time

Position Summary

The Powder Coat Specialist is responsible for performing all powder coating and painting processes to ensure parts are completed on schedule and meet zero-defect quality standards. This role supports production efficiency, product quality, and continuous improvement within the Smart Factory environment.

Key Responsibilities Powder Coating & Painting Operations
  • Load parts onto the conveyor line and prepare them for powder coating (taping, plugging, bonding, etc.).

  • Ensure all parts are clean, dry, and properly prepped before entering the spray booth.

  • Assist with paint color changeovers and adjustments to cleaning solutions in the parts wash line.

  • Perform routine checks and follow standard processes within the powder coat area.

Quality & Inspection
  • Unload coated parts and inspect for 100% quality assurance.

  • Ensure parts are delivered without damage, defects, or missing documentation.

  • Follow rework policies for handling defective parts from customers or internal processes.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and written specifications, including metric measurements.

Tool & Equipment Operation
  • Safely and effectively operate equipment such as forklifts, drill presses, power drills, air tools, grinders/orbital tools, and pressure washers.

  • Deburr, grind, and clean sheet metal parts requiring touch-up or rework.

  • Support preventative maintenance and 5S activities to maintain equipment and work areas.

Continuous Improvement & Support
  • Contribute to shop floor management activities.

  • Support and participate in process improvements throughout the powder coat area.

  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.

  • Experience in powder coating and metal preparation strongly preferred.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 70 lbs.

  • Knowledge of MS Office, quality principles, and lean manufacturing techniques is a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing defect-free work.
