Job Title: Principal Design Quality Engineer
Location: Norcross, GA

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Quality Engineer to join our team in Peachtree Corners, GA. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring product quality throughout the entire design and development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will lead quality improvement initiatives, develop and implement quality plans, mentor junior quality engineers, and promote a strong culture of safety and compliance.

Job Summary

In this role, you will guide design and development teams to ensure adherence to regulatory and quality requirements. You will lead risk management activities, oversee design verification and validation efforts, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Author and oversee quality plans that meet compliance standards for product design, safety, and reliability.

  • Lead efforts to ensure design teams meet regulatory and quality requirements, including risk management activities.

  • Oversee design verification and validation activities, including testing, analysis, and technical reviews.

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives across products and processes.

  • Mentor and guide quality engineers, fostering a culture of safety and quality.

  • Lead risk management activities throughout the entire product lifecycle in accordance with ISO 14971 and related regulatory requirements.

  • Support ongoing product compliance documentation and market authorization activities, including responding to competent authority feedback.

  • Assist cross-functional teams in establishing product development requirements (design inputs, V&V requirements, usability, CTQs, risk management, etc.).

  • Serve as the Quality representative on sustaining engineering projects, new product development teams, and manufacturing transfers.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Key Relationships

This role partners closely with cross-functional teams, including Operations, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, and Quality Assurance.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Biomedical preferred) or related scientific field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience (medical device industry preferred).

Skills & Capabilities:

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

  • Solid understanding of products, systems, procedures, and quality requirements.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) at an intermediate level.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills—clear, concise, accurate, and tailored to the audience.

  • Strong teamwork, influencing, and stakeholder-engagement abilities.

  • Exceptional critical-thinking and structured problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to lead and make independent decisions in partnership with cross-functional teams.
