A leading organization in the sustainable chemistry space is seeking a Principal Scientist to join its Product & Technology Development team within the Water Solutions business unit. Based in Atlanta, GA, this role offers a unique opportunity to lead the development of innovative water treatment technologies that directly support environmental goals and industry transformation.
This is a hybrid role requiring a strategic thinker with strong technical expertise in water treatment, excellent project management skills, and the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
Key Responsibilities-
Act as a subject matter expert in water treatment technologies and product development.

Lead complex, cross-functional R&D and product development projects, ensuring alignment with business strategy and customer needs.

Collaborate with internal teams (Applications, Sales, Manufacturing, IP, Regulatory, etc.) to commercialize innovative solutions.

Engage with key external stakeholders including strategic customers, research institutes, and universities.

Design and execute lab-scale and field trials to validate the performance and value of new technologies.

Develop custom test methods, application screening techniques, and prototype systems as needed.

Prepare clear, data-driven reports, technical documents, and customer-facing materials.

Support long-term innovation planning by transitioning early-stage concepts into formal development pipelines.

Travel up to 20% to support field trials, customer meetings, and collaboration activities.

Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of industry experience

M.S. in the same fields with 8+ years of relevant industry experience -
Deep understanding of water treatment applications and technologies

Proven success in taking products from concept through commercialization

Strong project management, analytical, and communication skills

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional and customer-facing environments

Experience with lab development, scale-up processes, and field testing

Proficiency in data analysis, experimental design, and technical documentation
