Location: Lebanon, PA
Compensation: $60,000-80,000/yr
Schedule:  M-F, 7:30AM-4:30PM

SUMMARY
The primary role of this position is to help manage the Food Safety Program. This position requires a strong knowledge base of food safety and quality management principles. Proficiency with quality control testing methods and equipment is also necessary. This role is required to analyze data, generate reports, and identify areas for improvement. This position will ensure products meet safety and quality standards through inspections and testing. Organization and timely communication of testing information is essential to this job function. This job function is tied to production. As such, the QA/QC Assistant Manager will need to be available to support production when needed. During times of peak production volume, this may include performance of job function outside of normal work hours.
Additionally, this position would be a managing member of the Food Safety team. The job function of this team member would be to assist with and oversee daily maintenance of the food safety system.

RESPONSIBILITIES
QA/QC Daily Operations

  • Perform pre and post sanitation checks and inspection
  • Perform all product quality testing as directed
  • Evaluate samples submitted by production and document results
  • Record results in appropriate systems on timely basis as directed
  • Coordinate microbiological testing and documents results
  • Record data in appropriate systems as directed
  • Communicate results to all concerned parties
  • Maintain and calibrate lab equipment as needed
  • Manage calibration program
  • Coordinate sourcing of lab supplies and testing chemicals as needed
  • Assist in developing procedures as new testing regimens are added
  • Conduct inspections of incoming raw materials and finished products
  • Identify deviations and collaborate with Operations and Productions group to identify and document solutions (deviations/corrective actions)
  • Report manufacturing deviations to all concerned parties
  • Analyze QA/QC data for trends and significant changes in testing values to help avoid out of specification batches.
  • General Maintenance of lab area as needed
  • Conduct inspections: pre/post op, facility, GMP
  • Pest Control Management
  • Manage 3rd Party Documents: COA, COC for Raw Materials Food Safety Responsibilities
    • Ensure compliance of SQF standards
    • Manage and Conduct Food Safety Training
    • Inspection and completion of periodic food safety tasks including but not limited to:
    • Environmental testing of the food production environment if required
    • Testing of Sanitation chemicals on periodic basis if required
    • Participating in both facility audits and documentation audits according to schedule
    • Providing support during times of 3rd party and customer audits
    • Participating in, identifying and completing root cause analysis and corrective actions for identified non-conformances.
    Other
    • Obtain appropriate Food Safety and Quality training certifications as needed

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Education/Experience
    • Ideal candidate will have a minimum Bachelor's degree in food science, science or qualified experience within the food or related industry or equivalent.
    • Minimum 2 - 3 year food production related experience or related work.
    • Familiarity with basic laboratory and food prep equipment required.
    • PCQI Certification is a plus
    • SQF Certification is a plus
    • Office/Clerical Experience is a Plus.
