R&D Director – Sustainable Materials 

An innovative and rapidly growing sustainable materials company in the Miami, FL area is seeking an experienced R&D Director to lead a talented team of scientists advancing next-generation biomaterials designed to replace single-use plastics.

This is an incredible opportunity to join a founding leadership team developing cutting-edge technologies that make a real impact on global sustainability. The R&D Director will play a hands-on role managing laboratory operations, guiding product development from concept through scale-up, and collaborating with executive leadership and strategic partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of scientists supporting multiple product lines.

  • Oversee lab operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and scientific excellence.

  • Develop and execute R&D project plans, manage budgets, and track progress against key milestones.

  • Drive scale-up and product development initiatives, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and external partners.

  • Contribute to go-to-market strategies, supplier relationships, and new technology roadmaps.

  • Present technical findings and strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • PhD (or equivalent experience) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.

  • 5+ years of relevant R&D experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.

  • Proven experience in scale-up, prototyping, or process development for advanced materials or related technologies.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative, and entrepreneurial environment.

Compensation & Benefits

 Salary $150,000- $180,000 (based on experience)
 Equity participation incentives
