R&D Lab Tech

Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking an R&D Laboratory Technician for a 3-month contract position at a cutting-edge client in San Marcos, CA. Pay: $26-28/hour
Schedule: Mon-Fri Day Overview
This Client is an industry-leading company that's advancing innovation in water treatment and chemical solutions. As an R&D Laboratory Technician, you will support product development initiatives, production plant operations, and long-term research projects. You'll conduct routine testing of water and other samples, assist senior R&D staff, and contribute to the development of new technologies. Responsibilities:

  • Participate in product development projects and long-term R&D studies with minimal supervision.
  • Evaluate raw materials and conduct routine testing (pH, conductivity, hardness, ion analysis).
  • Prepare water samples for advanced testing by senior laboratory staff.
  • Calibrate, operate, and monitor automated laboratory instruments; record and interpret results.
  • Perform general lab duties: glassware cleaning, sample prep/shipping, reagent labeling.
  • Accurately compile and organize data; perform calculations as needed.
  • Support production and operations teams with lab-based testing and troubleshooting.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related sciences (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–5 years of laboratory experience.
  • Knowledge of lab safety procedures and SOPs.
  • Experience in water treatment preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods at a lab bench.
  • Frequent use of hands/fingers for precise tasks.
  • Ability to lift and move 25–50 lbs (e.g., chemical containers, lab equipment).
  • Good vision, including color differentiation.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, and crouching.
  • Ability to wear PPE (gloves, lab coats, safety glasses, masks) for prolonged periods.
