Description

Senior Automation Engineer

Join our team as a Senior Automation Engineer, where you'll be responsible for the electrical design, development, documentation, and testing of factory automation systems. You'll collaborate with engineering teams and contribute to the creation of cutting-edge automation solutions.

This is a hybrid position in El Dorado Hills, CA. Occasional travel to project installations at other factory locations.

Job Specifics:

  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Compensation: $100,000 to $130,000 + Annual Bonus
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Management and Engineering teams to create requirements for new factory automation systems or modifications to existing ones.
  • Design and schematically capture all electrical circuits.
  • Use CAD tools to design electrical subsystems (panels, enclosures, cabling) and produce assembly documentation.
  • Select and integrate PLC components per Broadridge standards.
  • Participate in the programming of PLC components.
  • Ensure maximum safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of electrical designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and debug new systems.
  • Support and advise the Technician team during assembly.
  • Participate in ongoing improvement of the design environment and processes.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and regulatory requirements.
  • Offer technical support and training to staff.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related electrical degree.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in electrical engineering related to factory automation and industrial system integration.
  • Strong experience in electrical integration of industrial components and machinery.
  • Strong experience designing PLC-based factory control systems.
  • Strong experience integrating industrial safety components.
  • Proficient in electrical schematic capture (AutoCAD, Visio, or similar).
  • Proficient in mechanical CAD modeling and design tools (SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor).
  • Proficient in the use of oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Strong understanding of electrical assembly processes and documentation.
  • Experience working with vendors.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills.
  • Proven ability to learn new technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills (written and oral).
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to work on multiple design projects simultaneously.
  • Other Qualifications (a plus):
  • Experience designing local Ethernet topologies for industrial systems.
  • Experience with robotics and integrating robot controllers.
  • Experience specifying power distribution topologies.
  • Proficient in the use of power analyzers and Ethernet analyzers.
