Senior Buyer
Summary of Essential Functions:
The SR Buyer Planner will support the identification and onboarding of vendors, managing vendor documentation, and establishing a structured onboarding workflow. They will be responsible for purchase of direct and indirect materials while designing and implementing and owning the process for consumable inventory management, including item code creation and standardization.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Inventory Process
- Create and standardize item master data (naming conventions, units of measure, categories, taxable flags, GL mapping) and item codes/SKUs; establish change control for item updates.
- Design and implement a consumable inventory management process (reorder points, min/max, cycle counting, stocking levels, labeling, storage standards, and replenishment cadence).
- Execute and track purchase requisitions and POs to ensure on?time delivery and alignment with need dates.
- Source and qualify vendors, run light RFQs/RFPs when needed.
- Build and manage the vendor onboarding process (intake form, W?9/W?8, COI, NDA/MSA routing, banking verification, diversity data).
- Maintain a vendor document repository with version control and retention timelines; monitor expirations (e.g., COI).
- Partner with finance as needed to resolve exceptions and invoice holds; monitor accruals, aged POs, and GR/IR.
- Education and Experience:
- Minimum 3+ years in Supply Chain Procurement Operations, preferably pharmaceutical /GMP regulated manufacturing.
- Hands?on experience with ERP/MRP including item master & vendor master setup.
- Proven ability to design/roll out processes and SOPs, with measurable adoption.
- Strong understanding of vendor onboarding, AP/vendor master controls, and 3?way match.
- Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong Customer Focus
- Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak clear English, possess and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must have demonstrated Leadership ability, possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and detail oriented.
- Must be proficient with PC and Internet, strong familiarity with Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Excel, OneNote and PowerPoint
