Description

Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a Senior Formulation Chemist near Plainfield, IN. 

Direct Hire
Shift:
Monday - Friday 8am-5pm
Compensation: $85,000- $125,000/year based on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize new and existing formulations for car care and specialty solutions.
  • Improve existing formulations for performance, stability, cost-effectiveness or regulatory compliance.
  • Select chemical ingredients for functional performance and support sourcing efforts.
  • Ensure formulations meet local and international regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze competitive products and perform benchmark comparisons.
  • Design and conduct experiments to assess efficacy, stability, and scalability.
  • Oversee performance, stability, and package compatibility testing.
  • Lead scale-up efforts from lab to manufacturing, establishing new quality controls.
  • Handle multiple projects, document findings, and troubleshoot production issues.
  • Maintain accurate formulation records, lab notebook and technical reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product Development, Manufacturing, QA, Regulatory, Marketing).
  • Support and develop technical expertise in formulating team.
  • Stay current with advancements in raw materials, chemistry, industry trends and car care technologies, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Cultivate supplier relationships and identify process improvements.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, scientific advancements, and consumer preferences


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related science.
  • 7+ years of HI&I (Household, Industrial & Institutional) formulation experience, preferably in car care.
  • Proven ability to innovate, optimize, and scale formulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and collaboration skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and adept at managing multiple projects.
  • Deep understanding of raw materials and ingredient interactions.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory directives.
