Today, Kelly Science is searching for an experienced Refinery Laboratory Technician to join our team at a Fortune 500 Oil & Gas Company in Channahon, IL, for a long-term contract assignment.
Hours 6AM to 2:30PM
Refinery Laboratory Technician
Duties
-The laboratory technician is responsible for finished product testing and intermediate stream testing to include finished products including but not limited to MOGAS, #2 ultra low sulfur diesel, asphalt (PG 64-22), Propane HD-5 (LPG), normal butane, and PGP.
-Responsible for the daily operational aspects of the lab.
-Accurately make solutions according to directions and record pertinent data.
-Accountable for the safe, reliable, operation of the work to which they are assigned.
-Responsible for understanding and strictly following the Quality Assurance System and laboratory test methods (ASTM, AASHTO, SM, etc.)
-Demonstrate job knowledge by completing and reporting routine and non-routine tasks in a timely manner.
-Receive samples into the lab via the LIMS system.
-Review test result accuracy before and after reporting.
-Identify out of specification finished product results, inform appropriate personnel, and retest when appropriate.
-Review or print out backlog sheet before the end of shift to ensure data accuracy.
-Perform SQC analysis as scheduled and enter them into Sample Manager.
-Appropriately respond to run rule or out of control violations.
-Recognize when equipment should be taken out of service and tag it appropriately.
-Perform specified maintenance and record maintenance performed as qualified.
-Perform specified calibrations as qualified, record calibration data and communicate results to notify the Chemist/Specialist/First Line Supervisor for the area.
-Request the purchase of quality supplies and inspect upon receipt.
Requirements
-Three to Five years of related oil and gas testing experience is required.
-Adaptive, eager and quick learner.
-Ability to multitask.
-Analytical, GC, Reagents and Calibration experience is required.
-Chemstation, LIMs and SimDis experience strongly preferred.
