POSITION SUMMARY: 

We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our NIH team, playing a crucial role in advancing vaccine research and development. The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in a scientific field with a minimum of five years of specialized experience, preferably within a Clinical Research Organization (CRO). This role involves assisting the advanced testing group, ensuring quality assurance and control, integrating new technologies, and coordinating advanced clinical testing in compliance with FDA and GCLP guidelines. The successful candidate will also be responsible for mentoring scientific staff, establishing and implementing electronic notebooks with Laboratory Management Systems, and contributing to strategic research initiatives. A strong understanding of immunological assay development and automation, coupled with expertise in FDA regulatory guidelines for phase 3 testing, is essential. This position offers the opportunity to impact pandemic preparedness measures, support strategic partnerships, and lead innovations in immunological methodologies within a collaborative research environment. 

 

TASKS. The contractor shall: 

  • Assist and ensure QA and QC in the advanced testing group, providing technical review and direction. 

  • Integrate electronic notebooks with Laboratory Management Systems, such as Freezerworks. 

  • Assess and implement assay development stages from phase 1 to phase 3 following GCLP and FDA guidelines. 

  • Coordinate advanced clinical testing with program and partner organizations. 

  • Support Pandemic Preparedness measures and surge testing capabilities. 

  • Contribute to project teams for biologics assessment and strategic research leading to innovation. 

  • Plan and deliver results to industry partners according to data transfer agreements. 

  • Design and conduct experiments for new or improved immunological methodologies. 

  • Represent the Vaccine Immunology Program in scientific and interdepartmental committees. 

  • Transfer immunoassays for high throughput automated testing and maintain sample repositories. 

 

REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have: 

  • Ph.D. in a related scientific field. 

  • Minimum of 5 years of specialized experience, preferably in a Clinical Research Organization (CRO). 

  • Familiarity with FDA regulatory guidelines for phase 3 testing and assay validation. 

  • Detailed knowledge of GCLP or GLP in clinical trial analyses. 

  • Expertise in implementing automated workflows for high throughput analyses. 

  • Knowledge of virus neutralization and binding antibody analyses. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in laboratory assay and product development automation technologies. 

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with Laboratory Management Systems.
