Software Test and Tools Dev Engineer  

  • Location: ONSITE - Torrance, CA (90503)
  • Type: W2 contract (NO C2C OR THIRD PARTY)
  • Length: until 10/2025 (Contract extension expectation)
  • Pay Rate – Negotiable depending on DIRECT-related experience
  • Work Authorization - Must be able to work in the U.S. with approved authorization status. 


Targeting someone who can diagnose and solve software defects, analyze issues in a systematic, persistent, and thorough manner. Someone who can execute and support software engineering test plans and verification of GNSS receivers when needed. Someone with strong skills who can develop and implement tools to support the product test team and implement Test Automation features.


As a Software Test and Tools Dev Engineer, for the John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group in Torrance, CA you will develop Engineering Test Tools and provide support in software test of John Deere's line of GNSS StarFire receivers.
  In addition, you will:
  • Develop and implement tools to support analysis of GNSS StarFire Receivers.
  • Support and implement Test Automation features for software test team.
  • Diagnose and solve software defects.
  • Analyze issues in a systematic, persistent, and thorough manner.
  • Execute and support software engineering test and verification of John Deere's line of GNSS StarFire receivers.
  • Understand GNSS concepts and fundamentals through software test work assignments.
  • Provide daily assistance and guidance for team on work assignments, which may involve working with non-technical team members to understand software issues.
  What Makes You Stand Out
  • Experience with Web-design, HTML, CSS
  • Awareness of UI/UX principles
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Project and Team Foundation Server (TFS)
  • Experience in Validation & Verification Testing of Requirements, System and Regression Level Testing, Test Report Preparation, and Software Test Estimation
  • Strong Experience in Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  What Skills You Need
  • Strong Experience with Matlab, Python and C/C++
  • Strong Experience with Databases, SQL, and SQL server Tools
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft DevOps)
  • Experience with test plan creation and execution
  • Experience with software development life cycle and reporting/tracking software defects
  • Demonstrated effective analytical, reporting, & presentation skills.
  • Strong software analytical skills; problem solving and conveying complex features/issues to engineers in other disciplines
  • Experience working in a team environment with cross-functional teams
