Kelly Engineering is seeking an experienced Sr. Consumables NPD Engineer to join our client's Consumables R&D Team in Sunnyvale, California. This is a long-term contract role with the potential for conversion. The hourly pay rate ranges from $55 to $75, depending on individual relevant experience.

Job Description: As a Senior Consumables NPD Engineer, you will play a crucial role in transforming product requirements into sustainable, large-scale consumables production for the medical device industry. Your responsibilities will include leading engineering studies, supporting New Product Development (NPD) efforts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The position is on-site at Sunnyvale, California.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, execution, and analysis of engineering studies involving mechanical systems, automation equipment, plastic consumables, and packaging.
  • Support NPD efforts, conceptualize, investigate, and transfer consumables parts production designs for large-scale manufacturability.
  • Write verification and validation protocols, coordinate consumable part and process qualification activities, and document the status of consumables throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Establish working relationships with vendors for outsourcing engineering services and collaborate with in-house teams for part attribute development.

Requirements:

  • BS in Engineering or equivalent with 5-7 years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with FMEA, SPC, DOE, and injection molding principles.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis using MATLAB, R, Minitab, or Excel.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping, plastic injection molding, and high-volume manufacturing processes.

Preferred Experience:

  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and Engineering Drawing.
  • Project Management fundamentals and Quality Management System knowledge.
  • Previous experience in Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and integration of instrument, consumables, reagents, and software components.
