Why Join Us?
Are you a detail-oriented finance professional who thrives on delivering insights that drive strategic decisions? Join our dynamic Finance team as a Senior Financial Analyst, where you'll play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis that directly impacts leadership decisions.
You'll work in a supportive, high-impact environment, collaborate with stakeholders across business units, and have a chance to influence operational strategy at one of Canada's leading energy companies.

What You'll Be Doing
As a Senior Financial Analyst, you'll be responsible for performance monitoring, financial reporting, and strategic planning activities within a designated Business Unit or Central Function. You'll ensure alignment with corporate financial goals and regulatory frameworks while fostering strong relationships across departments.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Oversee month-end processes, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for your assigned Business Unit.
  • Report monthly on Budgets, Forecasts, and Actuals to Directors, VPs, and Senior Leadership, offering recommendations to meet financial targets.
  • Provide strategic financial counsel to managers and business leads, ensuring decisions align with financial goals.
  • Serve as the Finance Lead for a specific VP or group of Directors, delivering timely insights and support to guide operational performance.
  • Identify cross-functional dependencies impacting financial outcomes and recommend standardized, streamlined analytics processes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with operating groups, understanding and validating their financial processes and outputs.
  • Participate in department meetings and collaborate with internal clients to deepen business understanding.
  • Support periodic forecasts, annual budget cycles, and long-range planning efforts.
  • Deliver ad hoc reports and financial analysis to support real-time decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with the Regulatory framework, SOX controls, and audit requirements.
  • Support initiatives aimed at process and system enhancements within GDS Finance.
  • Proactively help identify and manage financial risks.
  • Promote awareness of financial policies and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed in support of Finance objectives.

What We're Looking For
You're a proactive and analytical thinker who thrives on digging into the details and extracting meaningful insights. You're confident in presenting to leadership and can translate complex financial data into actionable strategies. You're also a natural collaborator, equally comfortable in spreadsheets as you are in stakeholder meetings.

Must-Have Skills & Experience
  • 5–8 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or planning, ideally within a large corporate environment.
  • Strong command of month-end reporting, variance analysis, and forecasting techniques.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Experience supporting multiple stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • Familiarity with Regulatory compliance, SOX controls, and internal audit practices.
  • Proven ability to work in hybrid environments and manage shifting priorities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to distill complex data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Experience in system/process improvement projects is a plus.

Why This Role Matters
As a Senior Financial Analyst, your insights will directly inform critical decisions that impact operations and growth. You'll not only manage financial performance—but influence it—through data-driven recommendations and collaborative leadership.
If you're ready to bring strategic value and operational insight to a high-impact team, we want to hear from you.
