Temporary Laboratory Technician – Night Shift | Millersburg, OR

Kelly® Science & Clinical is excited to share this opportunity with one of our premier clients in the Millersburg, Oregon area! We're seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician to join a high-performing team in a cutting-edge Analytical Lab supporting the production of specialty materials used in aerospace, medical, energy, automotive, and other advanced industries.

Position Summary

This is a full-time, temporary opportunity working on a 12-hour night shift, following a fixed 14-day Pitman (2-2-3) schedule:

Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Pay: $22/hour DOE 

The Laboratory Technician will primarily support Sample Receiving, where metal samples are processed and prepared for downstream testing. The role also involves analytical testing using various laboratory instrumentation to ensure product quality and compliance with customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities Sample Receiving Duties:
  • Prioritize and organize incoming work according to procedures

  • Operate milling machines, power shears, and hand tools to process samples

  • Ensure samples meet quality and format requirements for lab testing

  • Maintain good lab practices and ensure smooth workflow across teams

Solids Lab Duties:
  • Maintain, calibrate, and operate lab instruments

  • Analyze samples using documented techniques (e.g., Sieve Particle Size, Laser Diffraction, Kjeldahl Nitrogen, TOX Chlorine, Pyro Fluoride)

  • Accurately document and report results in compliance with internal systems and quality standards

Qualifications Required:
  • Associate degree in a science-based field preferred

  • OR relevant industrial/quality experience or transferable technical skills

Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial environments

  • Familiarity with Lean principles and continuous improvement

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical problem-solving skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Physically able to stand for long periods and lift materials as needed

  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
