Description

As a Tooling Technician Lead, you will be responsible for the construction and repair of molds, jigs, fixtures, and other tooling equipment essential to the production of plastic injection molded parts. Your daily activities will focus on maintaining tooling in production-ready condition, reading blueprints, using measuring instruments and mathematical skills to build and repair parts for broken jigs and fixtures. You will be expected to work with close tolerance, perform root cause analysis on tool-related issues, and collaborate with various approved tool shops to coordinate repairs and changes, ensuring alignment with production schedules and continuous improvement in tooling.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and repair molds, jigs, fixtures, and other tooling equipment for plastic injection molded parts.
  • Read blueprints, use measuring instruments, and apply mathematical skills for building and repairing parts.
  • Maintain tooling in production-ready condition through daily activities.
  • Modify jigs and fixtures to address issues and perform skilled work with close tolerance.
  • Recommend and coordinate repairs and changes with approved tool shops to meet production schedules and enhance tooling.
  • Perform root cause analysis on tool-related issues and participate in teams analyzing production-related issues causing tooling damage.
  • Track and report weekly tooling preventive maintenance completion performance.
  • Participate in new mold introduction teams.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. 3 to 5 years of tooling experience.
Physical Capabilities: Must be physically capable of walking for the entire work shift, lift up to 60 pounds repeatedly, bend and lift during the shift, wear steel-toe footwear, and meet requirements for forklift operations.
Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints, use measuring instruments, and apply mathematical skills for tooling repairs.
